The Valentine's Dance will be on Friday, February 8th from 6-8pm at NMS. Come with your friends to enjoy the food, dancing and fun! Take pictures with your friends at the photo booth to commemorate the last dance of the school year! It is $5 to enter the dance. In order to "share the love" we will be giving half of the proceeds to the schools fundraising efforts for The Iron Giraffe, providing water for South Sudan. Can't wait to see you all there!
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Nippersink Middle School is raising money for the Water for South Sudan’s project, called the “Iron Giraffe Challenge”. This project was started four years ago by Salva Dut to raise funds towards the purchase of a new drilling rig, or “Iron Giraffe” as villagers call it in his biography,
A Long Walk to Water, which has been read by NMS students and staff. Schools who have participated in the first years of the challenge helped fund a drilling rig, raising over 40% of the goal. Since, 2014 over 500 schools from across the United States and eight other countries have raised over $1 million total. Nippersink would like to help Salva get closer to his goal to help bring clean water to Southern Sudan.
More than half of South Sudanese don’t have access to a drinking water facility. Nippersink Middle School would like to raise a minimum of $1,000 for a new drilling rig. All participating schools will be recognized, and all who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing to win a visit from Salva Dut. Additional prizes will be awarded including video calls with Salva or Linda Sue Park, author the of A Long Walk to Water.
You can help by donating directly through the fundraising campaign which can be accessed at https://give.classy.org/nippersink. All donors will automatically receive a tax receipt. April 5, 2019 is the final day to submit donations.
Schools are a major source of support for Water for South Sudan. This is a unique and meaningful opportunity for all of us to reach beyond our classroom community to make a lasting impact that improves the lives of a global community in need. We are hoping we can count on your assistance to make change and bring clean water to the desperately impoverished areas of Southern Sudan. Thank you in advance for your generous support for Water for South Sudan and the children and families of South Sudan.
